La Blogotheque has created a Take Away Shows episode with the American Modern Opera Company.; an excerpt from something called “With Care.” A sort of live experimental dance and experimental music short operatic theme performance. The scene in the video is a woman performing an dance while a guy plays violin in the background on some theater stage in NYC. It was produced by a NYC classical WXQR & La Blogotheque.
Never in my life would I expect the opera to create experimental pieces. This video is the work of Derrick Belcham who is a renowed documentary and music filmmaker.
The dance performed by Bobi Jene Smith accompnied by violinist Keir Gogwilt. This scene stylistically reminds me of Japanese Butoh. The only difference is the use of a classical instrument in this case the violin. I would be more prone to hearing an ambient, experimental noise collage being performed to this format.
However, Mr. Belcham and La Blogotheque are purist in the form of art and sound. Hence, this is a Post-Pandemic slap-in-the-face to whoever created such a disease to potentially erase the human spirit. But in turn, it managed to ignite the passions of those who fell short of the true nature of art, dance and sound: To EXPRESS THE INEXPRESSIBLE.
If you never have experienced watching or participating in an artform in its raw, naked format. Then below, this is a great video to watch the transformative essence of art, dance and sound into a palpable exhilirating form it remains to be. Any of you watching this film want an introduction into the “true underground” of art, music and film. Well, welcome to this world. It’s a piece of film that have a strong influential elements to any person interested in any style of art.
